The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, previously known as the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India, is a premier statutory professional accountancy body in India with the objects of promoting, regulating and developing the profession of Cost Accountancy.
There are 500,000 students and 75,000 members - its the second largest cost management professionals body in the world
Earlier known as ICWA (The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants); the degree is now termed as CMA - Cost and Management Accountant
The pass rate for June 2018 exams
Final - 9156 students appeared and 2080 cleared single/both groups - 22.72% pass rate
1240 CMAs qualified
In Intermediate exams - Appeared - 21,493 and 4647 cleared single/both groups - 21.62% pass rate
There are 3169 members in practice as on 31.3.17
The Institute organizes campus placement drive twice every year for newly qualified CMAs – October/ November (June Batch) and April/ May (December Batch).
In June 17, campus, 175/474 participants secured a job , with average of 6.35 lacs p.a. and highest of 12 lacs p.a. Overall 30 companies visited the campus for the Placement Drive
In Dec 2017 campus, 240 / 650 participants secured a job , with average of 7 lacs p.a. and highest of 18 lacs p.a. Overall 40 companies visited the campus for the Placement Drive.
650 newly qualified CMAs appeared for placement interviews this year and 240 candidates were offered a job. Companies like GAIL, ONGC, IOCL, POSOCO, Vedanta, Accenture, HUL, Reliance Industries Ltd., Nestle, Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited, ITC Ltd - Food, ITC Ltd (Internal Audit), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), Peerless Securities, NLC India ltd., KPMG, ITC Limited - Lifestyle Retailing Business, Saint-Gobain, RSM Astute, Wipro, Sundaram - Clayton Limited, Sundaram - Finance, Prism Cement, RSM Astute, ART Affordable Housing Finance, Tax Connect, Berger Paints, YES Bank, Aparna Carbons Pvt. Ltd., GST Suvidha, IRC Group, Hitaishi KK Mfg. Co. Pvt. Ltd., NIS Management Pvt. Ltd, JK Paper Limited and others participated in the campus placement drive.
