About the team


General Accounting is primarily involved in journal preparation, management & financial reporting for some of the key business units in Barclays e.g. UK Retail Business Banking, Corporate, Wealth, Africa & Europe. The size of the team is approximately 40 colleagues supporting more than 12 clusters of Barclays in Closing & Reporting.

Your primary role will be month end closing - reporting and preparations of management reports. Also, you will be involved in calculations and postings of profit & loss, balance sheet & memorandum journals for multiple clusters. You will also be responsible for reviewing Journals, Management Reports, Audit & Testing Controls.

This role will also provide in depth analytical expertise to a section/team within one of the core Financial Reporting teams and ensure an effective financial control framework is in place - operating in accordance with both internal and external policies and frameworks.

  • Requirement:
    · B. Com Graduation degree or equivalent
    · Minimum 5 years of relevant experience for a graduate and Minimum 4 years for Chartered Accountant (CA)/ Masters in Business Administration (MBA)/ Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    Preference:
    · CA/ MBA/ CPA
    · Prior experience of handling intercompany reconciliation and Elimination
    · Working knowledge of Guidelines/ Controls related to Manual Journals, Reconciliation
    · Ability to handle pressure
    · Candidate should have overview of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Controls
    · Inclined towards driving process improvements & should be flexible to stretch during month ends
