We seek to appoint a strong and experienced Finance Manager/Controller for our New Delhi office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the books and records for two registered companies and will manage 5 members of the local accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting, Tax and Compliance Director, based in London, your responsibilities will involve a variety of
duties including managing the delivery of the local accounting functions to the corporate group, as well as ensuring all local statutory reporting requirements are fulfilled.
As the successful candidate you will have a proven track record as a Finance Manager/Controller with strong leadership skills and first class technical ability. You will play a critical role in providing financial control, driving P&L compliance, and leading the delivery of timely, insightful and accurate reporting to the corporate group.
This is a key role within our accounts department where you will deal with employees across all levels of the business. Key to success in this role will be an outgoing and inclusive style, working closely with a global team to deliver the required results. You must be passionate, focused on detail, hands on and thrive on delivering to tight deadlines.
Main Responsibilities
Working with a close and well established team of finance professionals, you will be responsible for managing and/or assisting with a broad range of duties that include:
- Manage the preparation of the monthly field reporting pack for each company, explaining key variances to local financial records and budget.
- Ensure the accurate financial reporting in multiple locations.
- Prepare full accounting statements for both companies, to include P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow statement.
- Manage the day to day accounting and operations of 2 offices.
- Lead and mentor the local Finance team.
- Participate in a variety of projects including systems upgrades etc.
- Oversee preparation of annual financial accounts, liaison with the statutory auditors; ensuring all tax requirements are met.
- Deliver group reporting requirements on time and to specification.
- Ensure the business has a strong framework of corporate governance and ensure that the requirements of the Groups Internal Control requirements are met.
- Ensure all financial data in financial systems is in alignment with data in the consolidated financial systems.
- Enable a robust Finance system to enable the Management team to make informed financial decisions.
- Assist with the preparation of the Annual Budget and Business Plans.
- Identify business improvements, as a rounded contributor to the management team.
Skills and Requirements
On a technical level you will be educated to at least degree level and hold a recognised accounting qualification, probably gained while working with a Big 4 firm or other major employer. You will have several years of post-qualification experience during which you will have gained deep knowledge of financial and commercial accounting in a “real” business environment. Specifically,
you will be fully conversant with:
- Financial reporting standards and statutory reporting (Indian GAAP / IFRS/ US GAAP).
- Working with ERP systems and ideally Costpoint, Maconomy, and Tally.
- Creating meaningful financial analysis and understanding.
- Play a key role in the monthly financial and management accounting processes.
- Ensure correct accounting treatments for Service and Withholding Tax are applied, and all associated returns are correctly filed with the local tax authorities.
- Liaise with Corporate Tax team to ensure correct Corporation Tax estimates and annual tax returns are filed with the local authorities.
- Ensure appropriateness and compliance of group transfer pricing policy with local statutory regulations, making all accounting entries in the local books.
- Prepare accounts to US GAAP requirements for submission to US Parent Company.
- Ensure budgetary control processes are in place and strong financial controls are applied across the business units by working closely with budget & P&L holders.
- Complete reconciliations to ensure accounting records represent a true and fair view of the business.
- Managing and organising the transition process of in-housing specific finance activities from external accountant, whilst working with external accountants on certain on-going duties.
- Assist the decision making processes throughout the business by providing sound financial information.
The successful candidate will also have:
- Qualified chartered accountant with 5+ year experience of working in an accounting role and 3+ year post qualified experience.
- Experience of working in a corporate environment, reporting to an overseas Head Office.
- A good command of English is essential.
- Intermediate MS Excel skills.
- Previous experience with Maconomy and/or Costpoint, our local financial accounting software, will be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.
