The person in this role:
§ Governs execution of tax compliance (domestic and cross-border) by applying tax technical knowledge to current HR policies to ensure tax compliance, along with influencing new policy design to sustain and improve compliance.

§ Monitors the local/regional statutory environment to understand and provide early warning to HRSS Services on changes in legal requirements or emerging trends in enforcement activities.

§ Stays up-to-date with existing tax legislation, identifying changes that have an impact to our business and liaising with all affected business areas to make the necessary changes in systems and processes.

§ Leads the process for Employment tax audits and development of audit defence files.

§ Identifies and leads major initiatives that deliver necessary business process improvements required to sustain tax compliance in the long term in Employment Tax matters: country benefit tax review, payroll and tax filing quality, terminations, equity award plans, archiving and audit defence.

§ Owns and manages, in collaboration with Corporate Tax department, government tax and social security audits.

§ Advices the employment tax implications on business initiatives and identifies, recommends and implements employment tax planning strategies to reduce income tax and social security costs while ensuring full compliance.

§ Develops productive working relationships with local country management, HRSS Service Line managers, Human Resources and Corporate Tax and other Employment Tax managers in the company.

§ Provides ad-hoc advice on complex individual cases, in particular those related to the mobile employees, liaising where necessary with other country tax managers and external advisors.

§ Plays a leadership role in training the organization on employment tax and process.

Qualifications

The individual should be a qualified Chartered Accountant with 2-3 years’ post qualification experience in the Direct tax/Payroll area;

A suitable candidate will also be a person with strong F&A skills, experience in Accounting and/or Tax compliance and the ability and interest to build employment tax technical knowledge in a short period of time.

  • Proficient to Advance in Accounting;
  • Proficient +/ advanced in
project management,

delivering initiatives across multiple service lines and/or countries;

  • Basic to Proficient in Tax (this in case of not former Employment tax experience);
  • Proficient in Analysis and Business Problem Solving, previous experience in roles that involved process improvement is desired.
  • Change leadership: strong in analysing complex situations, proposing actions to gain alignment in resolution/design process. Constructively participate in leading and implementing change. Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Proficient to advance in Communication.
Strong Track Record of Building collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners at operational and management levels

Ideal but not mandatory:
  • Proficient in information systems – experience in SAP, ideally with experience in BW and ACL and good level in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Basic to Proficient in internal controls.
  • Basic to Proficient in External focus - working with external partners and submitting information to tax authorities.
