Program Officer (Business Process Excellence) at World Bank Chennai

The working hours will be from 2:00 PM IST to 10:30 PM IST. However, based on the business needs the incumbent might be required to work in different shift timings including night shifts to accomplish the work program.

Duties and Accountabilities:

 

 

• Develop and implement a BPX framework for the Chennai center.

• Play a key facilitation role in migrating new processes or business lines to the Chennai center.

• Perform business process reviews for agreed processes to identify opportunities for improvement and straight through processing.  (Shift and improve vs Improve and shift)

• Provide consulting services in managing continuous improvements and operational excellence.

• Apply project management, lean, and six sigma tools and techniques for managing projects.

• Provide change management leadership to process stakeholders impacted by the implementation of, and improvements to, global standards.

• Promote ‘quality’ and ‘efficiency’ culture across the center and other bank group global locations.

• Conduct events / awareness sessions on BPX.

• Identify and prioritize quality initiatives across the center.

• Lead and coordinate quality/efficiency/benchmarking initiatives for end to end business processes

• Train and guide business units on various quality techniques such as Six Sigma, Lean, ISO, Continuous Process Improvement etc.

• Guide and assist business units to document their processes.

• Design and implement frameworks and decision support systems to capture, track and report process and performance metrics.

• Guide and assist business units in project management of special initiatives and projects.

• Coach and train staff on quality and efficiency tools in business teams.

• Collaborate and partner with business owners in defining value, value drivers, value creation and socializing the value concepts.

• Collaborate with industry colleagues to learn and share the best practices for achieving quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement objectives.

• Lead a small team of local BPX professionals

• Conduct ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions to builds training capacity in the natural teams.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Master’s degree and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (mandatory)

• Demonstrated relevant experience in Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement and business process expertise

• Expert knowledge of various quality techniques and tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, project selection and chartering, information/data measurement and analysis, Kaizen/ Rapid Improvement workshops

• Solid experience in project & change management; project management certification (PMP) is a plus

• Good understanding of business process management

• Experienced facilitator with proven ability to drive organizational change, productivity and lean events/processes

• Hands-on and action-oriented approach

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;

• Strong collaborative skills

• Ability to work individually or with team

• Experience in leading teams

• Demonstrated ability to construct a vision, think creatively to solve issues, and being goal-oriented

• Understanding of information systems and the application of new technology

• Willingness to travel on short-term assignments
