Assistant Manager/Manager - ABS Controllership

Job Description

Asset-backed securities provide one of the major funding sources for American Express. American Express periodically securitizes Card Member receivables and loans arising from its card business through the transfer of those assets to securitization trusts. The trusts then issue securities to third-party investors, collateralized by the transferred assets. The ABS Controllership team is responsible for the accounting, cash management, controls, and SEC/BHC reporting requirements to help support this vital funding source for American Express. This position will perform various accounting, reporting, servicing, and control functions for the ABS Controllership team, and is responsible for the following: - Perform accounting activities, including monthly accounting, debt issuance and maturity accounting, daily cash settlement accounting, monthly cash settlement accounting, spreadsheet updates, and maintaining up to date documentation of processes - Perform cash settlement activities, including daily cash settlement, monthly cash settlement, issuance, maturities, and other miscellaneous cash settlements - Perform reporting activities, including SEC reporting, regulatory submissions, internal management reporting, restricted cash reporting, ASC 860 analysis, 10-K Reg AB reporting and query resolution ,as well as supporting the ABS footnote preparation - Perform investor and trust reporting activities, including monthly investor reporting, monthly trust reporting, excess spread forecasts, and support for 8-K issuances - Perform all controls activities, including supporting the relationship management with external legal counsel and external auditors, and tracking and implementing new regulations - Support various other business initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance - 2-4 years experience in finance and/or accounting - CPA, CMA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent preferred - Demonstrated process improvement capabilities - Strong collaborative and relationship skills and experience - Strong communication and organizational skills - Strong ability to analyze results and data to ensure accuracy and completeness - Detail oriented
