Finance
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees
worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm’s books and
records, and by contributing to firmwide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains
relationships with Morgan Stanley’s various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the
conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as
advisor to Morgan Stanley’s various businesses and its senior management team.
Tax
The Tax department ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, and monitors tax regulations
and legislation. In addition, it calculates reports and discloses all of the Firm's tax-related expenses. The
department also plans and manages the Firm's domestic and international tax strategies and advises
Firm management and business units on business products, location and structure.
Designation – Manager, Taxation
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with post qualification experience of 4 to 6 years;
- Fluent English language skills (written and oral) are a pre-requisite;
- The candidate’s experience should include, to a large extent, advising on various direct tax and international tax issues and working experience on tax compliance related work (not the other way round). Large part of the profile includes advisory to various businesses. The candidate would also be expected to review / take ownership of the compliances which would be prepared by external consultants / other teams. He / She would be expected to make sure the statutory timelines are adhered to
- The candidate would need to manage tax issues/advices on wide range of Morgan Stanley business in India. Specifically, the profile would include managing/handling direct and indirect tax related matters for Investment Banking business, Commodities business, fixed income business (including Government and private sector bonds), Primary Dealer, Private Equity investment etc.
- He / She should also have reasonable knowledge of other regulations such as RBI, FEMA, FDI etc;
- His / her broad profile would also include documentation, research, liaisoning with tax/accounting firms on tax compliance etc;
- Reporting to Head of tax – India;
