Job Role

Accounting Controls and Monitoring – Associate / Senior Associate

Location - Mumbai

Department - Finance shared service

Job Purpose :

- The function of the Control Monitoring Group is to perform a second level review (Level 2 control) over first level (Level 1) accounting controls. The team is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the quality and reliability of the control framework which support the financial accounting records. All issues are investigated and where necessary brought to the attention of the finance management locally and to Paris (Head Office).

Key Responsibilities :

- Detailed review of Balance Sheet controls to ensure defined controls are being correctly applied and continue to remain relevant. Liaise with individuals to ensure timely resolution of control issues.

- Level 2 review of Accounting to Economic (Front Office) P&L reconciliation

- Analytical review of manual entries into the GL to ensure compliance with the relevant HO control instructions

- Sensitive accounts; review of outstanding aged items and of the provisions made.

- Account and control justification to be obtained from various control owners and review of the same.

- Other financial control-related projects as defined by management.

- Preparation of monthly and quarterly report for local management and Paris CIB Management and Group Finance.

- Participate to Finance Projects linked to Accounting Controls

Contribution to BNP Paribas operational permanent control framework


Candidate Requirements for the role:

• Education Background:

Chartered Accountant

• #years of experience:

- Senior Associate – 3 to 5 years’ experience

- Associate – 1 to 2 years’ experience

• Technical knowledge & Skills:

Essential

- Detailed understanding of control and reconciliation issues.

- Good understanding of accounting plans and accounting standards preferably IFRS

- Advanced knowledge in excel

- Working knowledge of other MS Office tools including MS Access

• Preferred Industry / Domain experience :

- Good knowledge in accounting of investment banking products

- Audit experience (external or internal) preferably in Banking industry or work experience in finance function in Banking industry
