Job Purpose :
· The head of the Financial Reporting and Analysis team is primarily responsible for providing oversight and control over day-to-day transactions, operations and activities required for the daily activities and month end closing, including the recording of revenue arising from transactions from various activities including Capital Market activities, Financing activities and Broker Dealer activities.
· Assumes daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual responsibilities, which ensure that the financial records are properly maintained and exceptions are resolved in a timely manner.
· Also provides support in accounting for legal entities and participates in projects that have an impact on the back office processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities :
· Manage the staff and supervises the day-to-day operations of team.
· Act as the first level of review to ensure accuracy, completeness, and validity of the work performed by the team.
· Performs financial reporting, analysis, and related activities for multiple legal entitiesfrom various activities including Capital Market activities, Financing activities and Broker Dealer activities.
· Prepares month-end substantiation packages for multiple legal entities
· Works with the on-shore teams to understand new transactions and map to the GL accordingly.
· Assist in preparing financial statements (US Gaap and IFRS).
· Review ledgers and perform account and transaction analysis.
· Assists with audit requests from External Audit, Regulators and internal control teams.
· Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of systems to support the activities of the team.
· Responsible for the staffing operational process (recruiting, hiring, training) and ensure that staff’s skills and competencies can support the business requirements.
· Ensure team’s observance of the bank’s policies and procedures.
· Prepare short and long term resource plans for the team; establish objectives and performance standards/metrics, conducts performance reviews, and provide coaching.
Candidate Requirements for the role:
• Education Background:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other Business related field, CA
• # years of experience:
· 3- 5 years of financial services accounting experience.
• Technical knowledge & Skills:
· Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP reporting with 3-5 years of financial reporting and analysis experience in a medium to large organization. Experience in financial reporting and analysis includes preparation of US GAAP financial statements including footnotes, financial statements analysis, financial reports for senior management, and coordination of audits with external and internal auditors.
· Knowledge in at least 2 of the 3 main activities will be a plus : Capital Market, Financing, Broker Dealer.
· Ability to obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
· Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
· Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit
· Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements
· Knowledge of business desktop applications (MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
· Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables, charts, and graphs)
