Internal Auditor at Aga Khan Foundation,Delhi



The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private, international, non-denominational agencies founded by His Highness the Aga Khan. The Network's organisations have individual mandates that range from the fields of health and education to culture, rural development and the promotion of private-sector enterprise. AKDN is dedicated to improving living conditions and opportunities for the poor, without regard to faith,origin or gender.

  1. Review of existing operational and financial policies for AKF (India) and its implementing partners and documentation of recommendations for amendments and improvements; 
  2. Establish a risk profile for each operation or partner for the purpose of Internal Audit and in accordance with the guidelines provided in the Internal Audit Manual; propose an audit programme to review and document internal controls at these organisations with regard to financial controls, Corporate Governance, segregation of duties, conflict of interest, etc. Such audits should help management to understand the overall organizational health of AKF (India) and relevant operations of its partners; to judge the relative degree of financial or compliance risk in their operations and, by extension, to AKF (India); and to make decisions about appropriate risk mitigation strategies.  
  3. Evaluate the economy and efficiency with which institutional resources are being utilized.  
  4. Submit annual audit plan to the management for their review and approval.  
  5. Report the results of audit examinations and the recommendations made to management.  
  6. Appraise the adequacy of the action taken by management to correct reported deficient conditions; if the corrective actions are deemed inadequate, report such to management, and hold further discussions as necessary until there has been a satisfactory resolution of the matter.  
  7. Conduct special audits/investigation of problem areas as identified by management or AKF (Geneva) Finance Director. 
The position is based in New Delhi. Candidates for the position should :  
  • be Chartered Accountants with an audit background; 
  • possess good communications skills;
