Business Purpose:

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to learn about Microsoft Research (MSR), from idea to end-to-end product incubation? We are looking for a high performing Finance professional with a proven track-record of business partnering to support the Microsoft Research organization in India. In this challenging role you’ll partner closely with MSR India Lab Director and his leadership team, and will guide and support MSR India through planning, forecasting, reporting, financial analysis, and business insight. You will partner with a variety of internal stakeholders including, MS Research leadership, CFP&A, One Finance, and SMSG Finance.



Requirements/ Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- Minimum 2-3 years of demonstrated work experience
- BA or equivalent 3-year degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related degree; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
- Professional qualification in accounting such as Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of motivation; self-starter; ability to quickly identify what needs to be accomplished, craft a solution, manage a project plan and drive results
- Must be extremely detail oriented; proactive, flexible and adaptable. Must be highly organized, effectively manage multiple projects with competing priorities and work independently.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple groups and able to build strong relationships across finance and the business
- Advanced Excel skills; strong knowledge of finance tools, financial policies, and controls and system


Core Job Responsibilities:This role will directly support the Microsoft Research India (MSR India) and the Microsoft Research Connections Asia (MRC Asia) organizations. In addition to the MSR entities, the role will have significant interaction with the India SMSG subsidiary and other Microsoft organizations located in Bangalore and other parts of India.
- Drive monthly and quarterly financial close and related processes, as well as regular analysis related to the business results and forecast. Assimilate information from multiple sources, and identify key drivers, variables, trends, and business scenarios to develop insights and inform business decisions
- Provide business planning support, covering a broad spectrum of deliverables, including activities, analysis and deliverables associated with all planning and forecasting. Such efforts include quarterly forecast updates, target setting for financial goals, and business planning reviews
- Develop and prepare reports and analysis for business review with management related to key financial metrics and indicators
- Partner with business leaders and decision makers to understand tradeoffs of business decisions through financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and effective communication
- Act as a liaison between MSR India and relevant groups such as SMSG Finance. In particular, act as a point of contact for questions involving MSR India related to compliance with tax regulations and accounting policies. Implement controls and assess risk. Comply with all statutory requirements
